- Gradenigo syndrome (otitis media associated with eye pain and ipsilateral sixth cranial nerve palsy)

- Thyrotoxicosis and thyroid-related eye disease (Graves' disease)
- Diabetic ketoacidosis (in the setting of cerebral edema)
- Severe hypoglycemia
