Benefit of warfarin in chronic atrial fibrillation

Efficacy of anticoagulation with warfarin to prevent ischemic stroke and other thromboemboli in 4 major studies. An intention to treat approach was used, and transient ischemic attack and hemorrhage were excluded. The numbers at the top represent the risk reduction with warfarin therapy, which ranged from 45 to 82%.
