Human bite injuries require hospital admission, antibiotics, debridement in the operating room, and delayed primary wound closure. A wide exposure of the wound is required and the joint should be opened and inspected, even if the joint capsule appears intact. As shown in the photograph, exposure of the metacarpophalangeal joint is required to demonstrate the true extent of the injury.
