The wound edges are held in apposition with the fingers of the nondominant hand, and adhesive is applied evenly across the entire wound, including a margin of at least 5 to 10 mm on either side of the wound. The left-lower panel depicts incorrect placement of adhesive into the wound, which should be avoided.
