Metered dose inhalers and soft mist inhalers need to be "primed" before first use; refer to the information that came with your inhaler for exact instructions. Dry powder inhalers do not need to be shaken or primed.* Albuterol is known as salbutamol outside of the US. Levalbuterol is known as levosalbutamol outside of the US.
