Aspiration and drainage of an auricular hematoma

(A) Instillation of 1 percent lidocaine for local analgesia. (B) Aspiration of hematoma using 18-gauge angiocatheter and 10-mL syringe. Syringe is removed (C) and angiocatheter is clipped leaving approximately 1 cm external to the hematoma for drainage (D).
