Balloon valvuloplasty in pulmonic stenosis

Percutaneous balloon valvuloplasty for typical pulmonic valvular stenosis is an effective and safe procedure for those with moderate to severe stenosis. A balloon cathether is shown positioned across the stenotic pulmonic valve. The balloon is inflated to dilate the pulmonic valve opening. The cross-sectional image on the left shows obstruction of the pulmonic valve orifice prior to the valvuloplasty.
