Scalp conditions: Topical: Shampoo:

Treatment prior to shampooing: Apply evenly to affected areas prior to showering. Leave on for 5 minutes, gradually increasing the treatment time to 1 hour, or as directed. Rinse thoroughly. Use twice weekly or as directed.

Treatment as a shampoo: Apply to wet hair, leave in for several minutes, then rinse thoroughly. Use twice weekly or as directed.

Warnings/Precautions

Concerns related to adverse effects:

• Hair color changes: Shampoo may cause temporary discoloration of gray or blonde hair.

• Photosensitivity: May increase photosensitivity; avoid exposure to direct sunlight for 24 hours following application.

Special populations:

• Pediatric: Children and teenagers who have or are recovering from chickenpox or flu-like symptoms should not use this product unless instructed by physician. Risk of Reye syndrome may occur.

Other warnings/precautions:

• Self-medication (OTC use): For external use only; avoid eyes. Talk to your health care provider before applying if the condition covers a large area of the body or is located around the genital, groin, or rectal area. Do not use this product with other forms of psoriasis therapy such as UV radiation or prescription drugs unless directed by health care provider. Do not use more often or longer than recommended by your health care provider; overuse may make condition worse. Discontinue use and contact health care provider if condition worsens, does not improve after regular use as directed, or excessive irritation occurs.

KIDs List: Salicylates, when used in pediatric patients <18 years of age with suspicion of viral illness (influenza, chickenpox), are identified on the Key Potentially Inappropriate Drugs in Pediatrics (KIDs) list and should be used with caution due to risk of Reye syndrome (weak recommendation; very low quality of evidence) (PPA [Meyers 2020]).

Calcipotriene: Salicylic Acid may diminish the therapeutic effect of Calcipotriene. Management: Monitor for reduced calcipotriene efficacy if combined with salicylic acid. Consider separating the administration of these agents by 10 to 12 hours to minimize the risk of this potential interaction. Risk C: Monitor therapy
