Antiseptic

Antiseptic: Topical: Apply small amount to affected area 1 to 3 times daily.

Mouth/throat pain

Mouth/throat pain: Oral:

Lozenge: 1 lozenge every 2 hours as needed (maximum: 10 lozenges/day).

Solution: Apply to affected area or gargle and swish for 1 minute, then expectorate; may use up to 4 times daily or as directed by health care provider.

Warnings/Precautions

Dosage form specific issues:

• Antiseptic (self-medication, OTC use): Do not use in eyes or apply to large areas of the body; patients should contact health care provider prior to use on deep or puncture wounds, animal bites, or severe burns and if irritation, pain, or redness persist or worsen.

• Mouth/throat pain (self-medication, OTC use): When self-medicating, patients should be instructed to contact healthcare provider if symptoms last >7 days; when treating a severe sore throat, patients should contact healthcare provider if symptoms lasts >2 days and if accompanied by fever, rash, nausea, or vomiting; or if symptoms worsen.

Topical: Clean affected area prior to applying. Allow to dry prior to covering with sterile bandage.

Antiseptic: First aid antiseptic to protect minor cuts, scrapes, or burns from skin infection.
