Red-pigmented colonies of Serratia marcescens on MacConkey agar

Red-pigmented colonies of Serratia marcescens on MacConkey agar
Typical red-pigmented, environmental colonies of S. marcescens from a patient with endophthalmitis. The patient acquired S. marcescens after swimming in a lake. Hospital-acquired strains of S. marcescens typically produce creamy-white to grayish-colored colonies.
