Gastroparesis Mild nausea, early satiety and bloating, able to maintain caloric intake on regular diet Moderate symptoms; able to maintain nutrition with dietary and lifestyle modifications; may need pharmacologic intervention Weight loss ≥20% from baseline; tube feeding or TPN indicated; elective operative intervention indicated Life-threatening consequences; urgent intervention indicated  
Gastroparesis is characterized by an incomplete paralysis of the muscles of the stomach wall resulting in delayed emptying of the gastric contents into the small intestine.
