Destructive perifollicular inflammation in central centrifugal cicatricial alopecia

Note eccentric epithelial atrophy (thinning), concentric lamellar fibroplasia, and perifollicular lymphocytic inflammation. The follicular epithelium surrounding the hair shaft in the right upper portion of the image has been completely destroyed, resulting in a "naked" hair shaft (arrow).
