For infants with scalp hematomas, a score of 5 or more is associated with a significant risk of clinically important traumatic brain injury (injury requiring hospitalization for 2 or more nights, intensive intervention, or neurosurgery); a score of 4 or more is associated with a risk of traumatic brain injury on computed tomography (CT).
