Tendons and ligaments on medial aspect of ankle and foot

Tendons and ligaments on medial aspect of ankle and foot

(A) The relationships of the flexor tendons to the medial malleolus and sustentaculum tali are shown as they descend the posterolateral aspect of the ankle region and enter the foot. Except for the part tethering the flexor hallucis longus tendon, the flexor retinaculum has been removed.

(B) The four parts of the medial (deltoid) ligament of the ankle are demonstrated in this dissection.

(C) The calcaneal tendon is commonly referred to as the Achilles tendon.
