Central pancreatectomy for pancreatic injury

Central pancreatectomy has an advantage over distal or subtotal pancreatectomy in managing pancreatic injury. It preserves the tail of the pancreas and its endocrine and exocrine function, as well as the spleen, which is often sacrificed with distal pancreatectomy.
