Necrobiosis lipoidica

This close-up view of the edge of a lesion of nonulcerated necrobiosis lipoidica demonstrates atrophy with thinning of the skin, a shiny, whitish appearance, and strikingly visible vasculature underlying the lesion. Much of the periphery of the atrophic plaque appears hyperpigmented, but there are areas of active erythema on the left side of the image.
