Percent of new cases by age group: Cervical cancer*
Infection of the cervix with human papillomavirus (HPV) is the most common cause of cervical cancer, although not all women with HPV infection will develop cervical cancer. The number of new cases of cervix uteri cancer was 7.4 per 100,000 women per year based on 2013 to 2017 cases. Cervix uteri cancer is most frequently diagnosed among women aged 35 to 44. Median age at diagnosis is 50.
