Given the significance of meibomian gland dysfunction subjects in evaporative dry eye, its chronic and progressive nature, limited promising treatment options, and novel treatment techniques are important. This randomized clinical study evaluated the noninferiority of SYSTANE iLux with LipiFlow in meibomian gland dysfunction treatment at 12 months.

The modulation transfer functions (MTFs) of two novel enhanced depth-of-focus (EDoF) intraocular lenses (IOLs) were compared with an established diffractive EDoF IOL. Such assessment, which was not described before in the literature, is of high clinical impact in lens surgery.

The contrast sensitivity (CS) function provides a more detailed assessment of vision than visual acuity. It was found that center-distance multifocal contact lens designs that are increasingly being prescribed for myopia control reduce distance photopic and mesopic CS in nonpresbyopic patients across a range of spatial frequencies.

Tattoo-associated uveitis describes simultaneous tattoo inflammation and uveitis. Multiple cases exist in the literature related to systemic sarcoidosis or a delayed hypersensitivity reaction; however, there is no consensus on aetiology. Clinicians should consider new tattoos as an associated factor for patients presenting with a new uveitis.

Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 has indirectly created challenges to the ophthalmic retinal examinations because of lens fogging related to patients wearing masks. To date, there are no objective data on the degree of diagnostic ophthalmic lens fogging associated with mask wearing or on the effectiveness of proposed solutions to ophthalmologic lens fogging.
