Hypotension prediction index (HPI) software is a proprietary machine learning-based algorithm used to predict intraoperative hypotension (IOH). HPI has shown superiority in predicting IOH when compared to the predictive value of changes in mean arterial pressure ([DELTA]MAP) alone. However, the predictive value of [DELTA]MAP alone, with no reference to the absolute level of MAP, is counterintuitive and poor at predicting IOH.

Handheld vital microscopy allows direct observation of red blood cells within the sublingual microcirculation. Automated analysis allows quantifying microcirculatory tissue perfusion variables - including tissue red blood cell perfusion (tRBCp), a functional variable integrating microcirculatory convection and diffusion capacities.

Patients undergoing mastectomy surgery experience severe postoperative pain. Several regional techniques have been developed to reduce pain intensity but it is unclear, which of these techniques is most effective. OBJECTIVES: To synthesise direct and indirect comparisons for the relative efficacy of different regional and local analgesia techniques in the setting of unilateral mastectomy.

Plain 2-chloroprocaine , a rapid acting amino-ester-type local anaesthetic, is used in short ambulatory procedures under spinal anaesthesia. The ED95 of 2-chloroprocaine for lower limb surgery has not yet been defined. Moreover, patients' body height could influence the effects of the administered dose. OBJECTIVES: The aim of this study was to determine the ED95 of plain 2-chloroprocaine based on the height of patients undergoing ambulatory knee arthroscopy under spinal anaesthesia using the continual reassessment statistical method (CRM). DESIGN: Prospective, dose-response, double blind, controlled, bi-center, clinical trial.

Both transversus abdominis plane (TAP) block and wound infiltration with local anaesthetic have been used to relieve pain after inguinal or infra-umbilical hernia repair. OBJECTIVES: To determine whether TAP block or local anaesthetic infiltration is the best analgesic option after inguinal or infra-umbilical hernia repair. DESIGN: Systematic review and meta-analysis with trial sequential analysis. DATA SOURCES: MEDLINE, Embase, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Clinical Trials, Web of Science, up to June, 2020. ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA: We retrieved randomised controlled trials comparing TAP block with wound infiltration after inguinal or infra-umbilical hernia repair.
