Electronic health record (EHR) databases are a powerful resource to investigate clinical trajectories of osteoarthritis (OA). There are no existing EHR tools to evaluate risk for knee arthroplasty (KA). We developed an OA severity index (OASI) using EHR data and demonstrate the index's association with time to KA.

Black and Hispanic children with pediatric lupus (pSLE) have higher morbidity and mortality than non-Hispanic White children. The extent to which differences in outcomes are due to treatment disparities, including medication use, is unknown. We aimed to determine whether medication use in pSLE is associated with race and ethnicity in the Childhood Arthritis and Rheumatology Research Alliance (CARRA) Registry.

Many patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA) have difficulty finding clinicians to treat them because of workforce shortages. We developed an app to address this problem by improving care efficiency. The app collects patient-reported outcomes (PROs) and can be used to inform visit timing, potentially reducing the volume of low-value visits. We describe the development process, intervention design, and planned study for testing the app.

In rheumatoid arthritis (RA), anti–citrullinated protein antibodies (ACPA) can be elevated prior to inflammatory arthritis (IA). The potential to intervene in people with ACPA positivity underpins the development of prevention trials in RA. The Research Participation Influences Study examined factors influencing the decisions of individuals who are ACPA(+) to participate in a prevention trial using qualitative and quantitative methods.
