Cervical laminoplasty (CLP) is an effective spinal cord decompression method for patients with cervical myelopathy. However, cervical kyphosis after CLP may cause insufficient decompression of the spinal cord. Thus, prevention of cervical kyphosis after CLP and identification of its risk factors are essential.

C2 pedicle screw placement in patients with basilar invagination (BI) is fraught with risks because of a high incidence of anatomical variations and high-riding vertebral artery (HRVA). However, no study can be found in the literature that attempted to identify the ideal entry point and trajectory through the C2 pedicle in BI patients with HRVA.

Intramedullary spinal cord tumors (IMSCTs) are rare tumors associated with significant morbidity and mortality. Surgical resection is often indicated for symptomatic lesions but may result in new neurological deficits and decrease quality of life. Identifying predictors of these adverse outcomes may help target interventions designed to reduce their occurrence.

Patients with ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament (OPLL) are often reported to have increased bone mineral density (BMD). The bone strength of the proximal femur measured by quantitative computed tomography-based finite element analysis (QCT/FEA) is reportedly comparable between healthy subjects with and without OPLL. However, the bone strength in symptomatic OPLL patients remains unknown.
