In this view, the aortic valve occupies the 12 o'clock position. The anterior leaflet is large, unindented, triangularly shaped, and comprises two-thirds of the valve area. The anterior segments (A1-A3) corresponding to the posterior scallops (P1-P3) are labeled accordingly. The anterior and posterior leaflets are conjoined laterally and medially to form the anterolateral and posteromedial commissures. The aortic mitral curtain separates the anterior leaflet from the aortic valve.
