The data from cardiopulmonary exercise testing may be displayed in many ways, one of which has become popular and is known as the 9-panel display. As shown in the example above, variables are grouped by underlying significance related to the physiology of exercise. While all of the responses are interrelated, the top row (A through C) relates to metabolic and cardiovascular responses, the middle row (D through F) to ventilatory and gas exchange responses, and the bottom row (G through I) to mechanical responses.
