Ureteropelvic junction with intrinsic narrowing; insertion of stent
Video showing robotic-assisted pyeloplasty for left UPJ obstruction due to intrinsic narrowing. After resection of the abnormally narrow segment of the ureter, a temporary "JJ" ureteral stent is inserted across the new anastomosis to facilitate healing. Clip A shows insertion of the stent into the ureter. Clip B shows removal of the guide wire, allowing the stent to curl into a "J" shape and reside in the ureter without migrating in the renal pelvis. The stent will be removed approximately 6 weeks later in a separate brief cystoscopy procedure.
