* Delivery is generally indicated, regardless of gestational age, given the high risk of serious maternal morbidity. However, expectant management in a tertiary care setting or in consultation with a maternal-fetal medicine specialist is an option for selected patients remote from term (<34 weeks of gestation) in whom blood pressure can be controlled.
