Comparison of SSTR-PET and CT for metastatic neuroendocrine tumors

Comparison of SSTR-PET and CT for metastatic neuroendocrine tumors
Images from a contrast-enhanced CT scan in the portal venous phase (image A) and a copper Cu-64 dotatate PET/CT (image B) show metastatic disease in the liver (thick arrow) and an enlarged lymph node at the root of the mesentery (arrow). Note how difficult it is to detect the metastatic lymph node by CT alone (image A) given its proximity to the duodenum. This metastatic lymph node could be overlooked by CT alone but is easily detected with SSTR-PET (image B).
CT: computed tomography; PET: positron emission tomography; SSTR-PET: somatostatin receptor positron emission tomography.
