Traditional risk factors* Risk factors related to SLE
  • Older age
  • Male sex
  • Family history of CAD
  • Comorbid conditions (eg, diabetes, hyperlipidemia, hypertension, obesity, chronic kidney disease)
  • Sedentary lifestyle
  • Dietary factors (eg, high consumption of red meat, trans fatty acids, or sugar-sweetened beverages; low consumption of fruits and vegetables)
  • Cigarette smoking
  • Gestational diabetes, early or late menarche, early menopause, and breast cancerΔ
  • Moderate to severe SLE disease activity[1,2]
  • Increased SLE duration[2]
  • Lupus nephritis with elevated serum creatinine[2]
  • Current use of >20 mg/day of prednisone or its equivalent[1]
  • Elevated anti-dsDNA[1,2]
  • Positive anti-Ro/SSA[2]
  • Antiphospholipid antibodies, especially LAC[2]
  • Low C4[2]
