Intraarticular patellar dislocation

Intraarticular patellar dislocations occur following a direct blow to the proximal portion of the patella of a flexed knee sufficient to avulse the deep fibers of the guadriceps tendon and permit horizontal rotation of the superior portion of the patella into the knee joint.
